In these earlier strips, I think Brian was a lot more innocent and animal-like than he was later. He wasn’t quite a pet, but he wasn’t really a roommate either. I guess it’s a bit weird that he wouldn’t remember what a video game controller is, even though he was once human. But I think with his brain being in a state of decay, there’s a bit of room for artistic licence there. Zombies — "Yeah, they’re dead. They’re all messed up…" Right?
